We strongly believe that it is the parent’s role to be the primary disciplers of their children. It is our goal to come alongside parents and provide resources to help them set up atmospheres in their homes that will lead to lasting spiritual formation in their children’s walks with Christ. One way we do this is by providing parent’s information to help them continue the conversations we start on Sunday morning in VLC Kids, at home throughout the week. On Sunday mornings we start the morning with fun and engaging worship songs. After worship we move into creative teaching from the Bible, which can be interactive and competitive amongst small groups at times. Then we end the day with small group time where the kids do activities and games, talk about the days Bible story, and pray.
Our Wednesday night program is called LINK. We currently meet from 6-7:30 pm every week. At LINK we grow closer to each other and God by doing hands-on activities and hearing a lesson based on Scripture. Just like a chain is linked together, so we need to be linked to fellow believers in Christ.
Through the various things that we do, we pray that children “get it”. That they understand that God wants to use them right now, not just when they grow up. Also, that the children experience a deep and vibrant walk with Christ. 1 Timothy 4:12 says, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” This is the heartbeat of VLC Kids and is why we do what we do!
